News and Technology - Port and Harbor Protection
The reality of post 9/11 brings with it the global phenomenon of terrorism and the increasing spread of pirate theft and intrusion of water borders. Especially now, more than ever, we have to be aware of port protection, and oil rigs surveillance, in order to deter any sabotaging, attacks, or abuse of these facilities.
New technologies have emerged to counter these increasing threats, but the HSS, Harbor Surveillance System designed to protect port and harbors is one of a kind. Only handled by two operators, this system identifies, hinders, and physically blocks intruders. No matter the weather condition, this system is able to provide a 24 hour vivid picture of above and below water that is either shallow or deep water. Although many cutting edge technologies provide little human involvement, this system has hand on user interface which include map creation, picture control, and full monitoring and sensor data integration.
The system uses sonar systems, electro optical systems, underwater electronic net, and radars systems which easily detect divers with open or closed breathing systems, swimmers, SDVs, mini subs, mines, rubber boats and other small surface vessels. The HSS provides high probability of detection with a low probability of false alarming.
Evidently, this easy to control and command harbor and port surveillance system offers its customer, largely the navy industry, an opportunity to secure and protect water facilities and borders.
