Most of us often forget about the invisible threat that, consequently, is the least protected. Positioned hundreds of kilometers deep underground, pipelines pose as the ideal target for sabotagers.Conveniently, with no device used for surveillance and no one to notice terrorists or thieves, sabotagers are able to damage or steal without much restrain.

Noticing this threatening default in security, Magal created a PipeGuard system which is designed to monitor movements around the vicinity of the pipe and raise an immediate alarm. By using geophones that are able to recognize algorithm capabilities based on the analysis of seismic signals, the PipeGuard system can effectively filter out false alarms, hence providing increasing probability of detection while reducing the rate of false alarm. The Sensing Units, known as S.U., are located remotely from one another and they sample the parameters rat rates which are asynchronous between sensing units. Being a software based component, the S.U is very adaptive because it can rearranged with new parameters and versions. Each S.U. operates autonomously; meaning, every single S.U. has its own ID that enables it to activate and operate completely independently along its section. By focusing on exact location rather than larger units which measure movement along the two sides of the pipe, this technique reduces the likelihood of a false alarm. Yet, depending on the operator’s wish, the parameters can be adjusted to include an entire line, a whole section or just a single sensing unit. The display depicts a geographical layer with a warning message indicating where about on the map or photo the danger is. The alarm is displayed on a regular PC computer, either stationed or portable, making it easy to use.

Furthermore, the S.U’s are covered by anti-corrosion container, can effectively work under any weather condition. The S.U’s uses a lithium battery pack which lasts up to five years. This easily integrated security solution, which includes perimeter protection on ground or air, for both military and civilian, and for all existing pipelines that are used now days, it cannot get better than this.
